Since it was founded, the task of the Forschungsstätte der Evangelischen Studiengemeinschaft (Protestant Institute for Interdisciplinary Research) in Heidelberg has been to connect the continuous discussion about basic issues with subject-related scholarly work. The Religion und Aufklärung series continues this tradition by integrating the institute's research, no matter what the basis for the research context is, in a comprehensive approach and relating all the research done to each other.
