[Sin and Forgiveness. A Reconstruction of the Redactional History of the Last Sinai Pericopes (Exodus 32-34) against the Backdrop of Current Pentateuch Models.]Published in German. In his detailed analysis of Ex 32-34, Michael Konkel examines the most important current models of Pentateuchal theory. Contrary to the present trend towards dating them from a later period, he offers evidence of a preexilic composition in Ex 32* which reflects the fall of the Northern Kingdom (722 BCE) and the campaign of Sennacherib (701 BCE). For the first time, there was a concept of a common history of guilt shared by the North and the South Kingdoms. In the preexilic era, this composition was continued in Ex 34*. Apart from that, it can be assumed that a great deal of redaction was done with the Priestly Document. The final composition is characterized by intertextual references that cover the whole Enneateuch (Gen - 2 Kings) as well as a highly differentiating theology of grace which erases the guidelines given in the Deuteronomic school and the Priestly Document and results in a new synthesis.eBook
