[Storm and Shipwreck. The Lukan Use of a Literary Topos in Acts 27:1-28:6.]Published in German. On the basis of a detailed comparison with selected ancient narratives of storms and shipwrecks, Jens Börstinghaus studies Luke's great story in Acts 27:1-28:6, in which Paul travels as far as Malta. This narrative is particularly important, since it is a brilliant preparation for the conclusion of the entire Luke-Acts. Even though Luke is not what you would call a gifted writer, he proves himself a committed and independent author of early Christianity. By reaching Rome despite all dangers and difficulties, Paul is presented here as an attractive figure, which confirms the Lucan audience in its identity as a gentile-Christian community according to God's will. The study, primarily interested in literary motifs, contributes to both Luke's picture of Paul and the question of the literary genre of Acts as well as the still contentious issue of the so-called "we" passages.eBook
