Göttliche Freiheit

Die Trinitätslehre in Schellings Spätphilosophie

[Divine Freedom. The Doctrine of the Trinity in Schelling's Late Philosophy.]

Published in German.

German idealism is of considerable significance for the current renaissance of the doctrine of the Trinity. Thus it is surprising that the Trinity doctrine in F.W.J. Schelling's late philosophy has been studied very little up to now. One of the reasons for this is that Schelling's most significant work on this subject, "Urfassung der Philosophie der Offenbarung," was not published until 1992. Malte Dominik Krüger studies and interprets this "Urfassung" in its entirety for the first time. In doing so, he portrays Schelling's entire concept in the way Schelling himself intended it: Schelling's late philosophy is on the whole a Trinity doctrine which combines theological tradition and philosophical reflection. This means that it is of interest from both an ecumenical and a philosophical perspective.
