Catalog search help

The catalog search is divided into five possibilities:

  1. Unlimited search for keyword, author or phrases in all subjects or limited
  2. to one subject area
  3. to one or all subjects
  4. to one or all series
  5. to the year of publication or one period of time


Search for keyword, author or phrase
In the first three boxes you can enter a keyword from the book title, an author's name or a phrase/subject, or you can combine two or three of these search terms.

You can choose the way in which a search term is to be combined with the other line(s) in the left boxes of the second and third line: and means that both (or more) of the search criteria must be met, or means that one of the search criteria must be met.

If you have the ISBN (International Standard Book Number), you can enter this in the fourth line. This will deactivate all other boxes, since the specific search for individual books excludes other search criteria. All Mohr Siebeck ISBNs begin with "978-3-16-," all the UTB ISBNs begin with "978-3-8252-."

 

Search all main subject areas
As a default, all main subject areas will be searched. If you select one main subject area, you will be able to narrow your search.

Search specific subjects and series
If  you do not select a subject or series, the entire catalog will be searched according to your search criteria. 

 

Search a certain subject
As soon as you have selected a line from the drop-down menu, the search will be limited to the subject selected. Enter a space in the search box and then select the corresponding subject in the pull-down menu to view all the titles for this subject.. If you have entered search criteria in the Search for field, these criteria will be used to search within the subject selected.

Search a certain series
As soon as you have selected a line from the drop-down menu, the search will be limited to the series selected. Enter a space in the search box and then select the corresponding subject in the pull-down menu to view all the titles for this series. If you have entered search criteria in the Search for field, these criteria will be used to search within the series selected.  

 

 

Limitation to a year or a period of time
A further possibility of narrowing your search is to search within a certain year of publication or a period of time. In the first case, select a year from the drop-down menu. If you wish to search within a certain period of time, use the second drop-down menu to select the year up to which you wish to search.

Example:  Books from the period of time between 1980-90 from the Wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen zum Neuen Testament series with the word Paul in the title.

Quick searches at mohr.de - Search engine plugins for Firefox

On the homepage of the Mycroft project you will find various plugins for users of Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape (from Version 7 on) which you can use to search the Mohr Siebeck catalog and Mohr.de:

Installation
In order to install these, simply click on the name of the search plugin.
This will open a window asking you: "Do you want to add (plugin name) to the list of the available search engines?"


As soon as you have clicked on "Add" the plugin is available for a Web search in the input window. If you put a check mark next to "use immediately,", it will be activated.
