Internationales Jahrbuch für Hermeneutik

Edited by Günter Figal

This yearbook represents a mainstream of contemporary philosophy with its counterparts in the sciences. The philosophical preoccupation with hermeneutics has long transcended the question of text interpretation and the methods in the humanities. The historicity and the way in which thinking is tied to interpretation is no longer regarded as a particular problem of a certain branch of science: it has become a general characteristic of thinking.
The Internationales Jahrbuch für Hermeneutik deals with the scope of these potential approaches. Historically and systematically, it is open to all branches of research which can be associated with all types of hermeneutical questions, whether they are critical or affirmative. Thus it represents not only that research which refers to hermeneutical thinking in a narrow sense, for example the philosophies of Nietzsche, Dilthey or Heidegger. In fact, works on antiquity will find a firm place in this series, as will works on philosophy in the context of German idealism
