Karl-Hermann Kästner is a Professor of Public Law and Church Law at the Faculty of Law and a co-opted member of the Faculty of Protestant Theology at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen, a member of the advisory board of the Institute for Church Law of the Protestant Church in Germany and a full foreign member of the Academy of Law in the Ukraine. This volume, published for his 65th birthday, is a collection of articles and contributions written during approximately three decades of scholarly work. The subjects dealt with range from the history of the law and constitutional law pertaining to the church and religion up to general constitutional law. The focus of Karl-Hermann Kästner’s work, and thus the focus of this volume, is on freedom of religion and conscience, religious studies classes and schools, legal protection in church issues, the constitutional protection of church property and the protection of Sundays and public holidays.
