[The European Union after the Treaty of Lisbon. An Overview of the Reforms and their Implications for German Law.]

The Treaty of Lisbon took effect on 1 December 2009. Following the failure of the EU constitution, this formulates a compromise which was an unusual challenge for the 27 EU Member States. Christian Calliess provides an insight into the function and the mode of operation of the EU, which has been given a new basis due to this reform treaty, and shows the close political and legal connection between the EU and Germany.
